I saw this idea in a magazine a couple of years ago and thought it was brilliant. The 25th anniversary is the silver anniversary, so celebrate it by putting the bride and groom on the “silver screen”. Make a video using old photos, slides or home movies. (You can have someone do this for you or do it yourself, if you have the software.) Then invite your parents and close friends to a screening to celebrate the big day. You can serve popcorn and candy bars and drinks to stick to your budget. Get Hershey bars and remove the outer wrapper, they wrapping’s just silver. Hershey kisses are also silver, to stick with your theme. Congratulations to your folks for 25 years!

How about a photo album of their life together? You know, pictures of them when they first met, at proms, other family events, the birth of their children, ect.
Or, how about a re-newing of their vows? Try to find the brides maid/groom’s men that were there.
A small party and ask everyone to include a picture or story of your parents.
We did something like this for my mother’s 70th, everyone made a scrapbook page for her with things like, a story about her, pictures, or a family tree of long lost relatives. A year later, she is still talking about it.

Assemble a photo album with pictures showing the 25 years of your parents’ marriage — Pictures should include photos of their wedding, children, grandchildren, friends; trips taken together, homes lived in, etc. Also include stories or notes from you, any siblings and your parents’ friends. You can get a silver plated photo album to put it all in with their names engraved on the front. It may not be the most expensive gift you’ll find, but it will be the most memorable and meaningful.

My parents’ silver anniversary is coming up in a couple of years. I plan on getting them a silver double-sided frame. On one side will be their wedding picture where I’ll have “1985″ engraved, and on the other will be a recent picture with “2010″ engraved. I’m also thinking of getting my little brother in on it and engraving “To the most wonderful parents anyone could ever ask for”. Yeah, I’m pretty cheesy when it comes to gift giving, LOL!

Try the mall. Besides the places like Sears and Macys that should have some silver I have seen smaller stores that specialize in Monogrammed gifts that have a lot of silver stuff. You can choose from many different items, like letter openers to key chains to mugs, etc.

If you could afford it, sending them on a cruise would be PERFECT. I hoped to do that for my parents but they have issues I won’t bring up. Maybe you can save for another anniversary. But for this one, I’d agree with sending them to a fancy restaurant with food they like, one they wouldn’t normally go to.

Silver is the traditional 25th anniversary gift. Napkin rings or a silver framed picture of them or your family would be nice.
