To go along with the tradition of paper, I had professional pin ups done. There's a photographer in Philly who had very tasteful portraits in traditional pin up girl poses. My husband is deployed right now (and won't be home for our anniversary, so it's not a big deal) and the photos won't be ready by our anniversary, or before he comes home. So I'm sending him an anniversary card (also paper LoL) and then writing down the link to my proofs. That way he gets to see all the pictures and then be surprised with my 4 favorites when he officially comes home. If you don't want to spend the money (My package cost $ 300 for professional hair & makeup, costume, all the poses I wanted, an 8x10, 5x7, and 2 4x5s), you could always have pictures done at Wal Mart or Sears or even do Glamour Shots (though I think they're horrible and always give you 80's hair.)
