it’s really hard to say because depending on the cut, clarity and color the price can vary a lot.

But I can tell you that a “rule of thumb” is that an engagement ring should cost 3 months salary. So, if you make $ 500 a month, the ring should cost $ 1500. If you make $ 5,000 it should be $ 15,000.

BUT, I also don’t believe that your bride-to-be’s ring should cause you to file bankruptcy. So, my suggestion is that you pick a price range and stick to it. Get the best you can for the amount you can afford to spend.

Whatever you get her, I’m sure that she will love!

http://www.abazias.com beat Blue Nile by a mile (not trying to rhyme, sorry). Though http://www.bluenile.com is a GOOD company. Check out both sites and read up about diamonds, they cut you want (round, princess, heat, emerald) and the color (nothing below H) and the clarity (nothing below SI1). Then go on and search for a diamond with your specs and price range. It’s really easy. Go for a better clarity and H in color and you’ll find it’s less expensive. The color doesn’t matter THAT much, but stick with D-H and you’ll be fine.

I spent about 3.5k on a 1 carrot but it was not the best of the best. I think it was a 1.18k Si3 round Bril., i got it on sale they were asking 4k for it

Try Costco, they have nice quality 1 carat rings that start just under $ 5000 and go up from there. Really nice quality at a fraction of the price.
