In my state, you have up to 30 days to use your license and then it becomes void. In some states, 90 days. In others, a couple of weeks. You want to apply at least a week ahead of time, earlier if possible. In addition, find out what you need to bring with you. In some cases, the license can only be paid for in cash. A marriage licenses usually is voided out if its not used and turned back into the records of deeds office in 30days. so you must be married and have it turned into the records of deeds office. don't wait too close to your wedding though because in some states theres a 3day holding period. where you apply for your marriage license and in 3 days you can go pick it up. i would make sure you have your marriage license in your hand a week before your wedding. but i would give yourself plenty of time to get it. (in case of holding period, holidays that your make the court house be closed, to get to the court house after hours, etc.) about 2 or 3 weeks before.
