Usually the middle stone is supposed to stick out the most. Rings that have all three diamonds the same size signify past, present, and future, and are usually saved for anniversaries (as you mentioned). But, if thats what you like, then who cares? You'll be wearing this engagement ring pretty much every day for most of your life, so you might as well get something you're in love with. I have a marquis cut solitaire and my wedding band is a wrap ...there are 2 blue sapphire baguettes and 4 diamonds on each side of my wrap.
