How can you remove a wedding band from a swollen finger?

Question by poncho_mike: How can you remove a wedding band from a swollen finger?
My wife’s wedding band has been getting tighter over the years. Yesterday, she did something that is making her finger swell. The wedding band won’t come off, and it’s making her arm and hand hurt. We’ve tried washing her hand in soap, but the swelling is making the ring impossible to remove.

Is there any way to remove the ring other than cutting it off?

One way or another, the ring HAS to come off. It’s cutting off her circulation on her finger and that’s what’s causing her to have pain in arm and hand. Have you tried grease or anything else besides soap and water? Try some grease and then if it doesn’t come off, she has to get it cut off or else she’ll lose circulation… sorry :(

Try some ice water. Immerse the hand in ice water until it gets uncomfortable, no more. If that doesn’t reduce the swelling, cut the ring off. It can be repaired. Don’t worry about the ring, this happens all the time. Re-sizing a ring is not a big deal.

If her hand and arm has been hurting you are past the point of worrying about cutting the ring. Pain indicates the circulation has been impeded for too long.

put the hand in ice water to reduce swelling, then oil up the finger and try removing….

elst wise get it cut off and RESIZED before she losses a finger to put it ON!!!!

Sorry but the safest thing to do is to get it cut off. If it’s swelling from an injury I really don’t think you’ll be able to pull it off. Plus, the more you try to pull it off and it doesn’t move…..it’ll make it swell even more.
