Question by lostandfound: Can you help me with a song for our first dance for our wedding?
We’ve been in a long distance relationship for 4 years and would like something a bit symbolic to that. Also, I’d like something slow and not an upbeat song. A traditional, slow wedding song.
Thanks!

How about carrying your love with me by George Straight? It’s the only one i can think of at the moment that fits with speaking of distance
I’ll keep thinking on it, so check back.
Good Luck

everything i do, i do it for you. or heaven by brian adams.
i agree with my lover, courtney
“I Will Not Take These Things for Granted” by Toad the Wet Sprocket. This is one of my favorites and I think it is a nice song for a first dance. Not sure if it will fit into your long distance theme but either way it’s a good slow song. Congratulations and good luck finding that perfect song.
Another really good one that has a long distance theme is by Richard Marx called “Right Here Waiting”. I pasted the lyrics to both songs below to hopefully save you some time. Best of luck with your decision and congratulations! You can preview both songs for free on Amazon MP3 Download site.
“I Will Not Take These Things for Granted”
By: Toad The Wet Sprocket
one part of me just wants to tell you everything
one part just needs the quiet
and if i’m lonely here, i’m lonely here
and on the telephone
you offer reassurance
i will not take these things for granted
how can i hold the part of me that only you can carry
it needs a strength i haven’t found
but if it’s frightening, i’ll bear the cold
and on the telephone
you offer warm asylum
i’m listening
flowers in the garden
laughter in the hall
children in the park
i will not take these things for granted
anymore
to crawl inside the wire and feel something near me
to feel this accepting
that it is lonely here, but not alone
and on the telephone
you offer visions dancing
i’m listening
music in the bedroom
laughter in the hall
dive into the ocean
singing by the fire
running through the forest
and standing in the wind
in rolling canyons
i will not take these things for granted
RIGHT HERE WAITING
Richard Marx
- written by Richard Marx
Oceans apart day after day
And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice on the line
But it doesn’t stop the pain
If I see you next to never
How can we say forever
Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you
I took for granted, all the times
That I thought would last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I can’t get near you now
Oh, can’t you see it baby
You’ve got me goin’ crazy
Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you
I wonder how we can survive
This romance
But in the end if I’m with you
I’ll take the chance
Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you
Waiting for you
